Supermarket on the move with new mobile app.

Supermarket on the move with new mobile app.

International supermarket giant brings virtual goods to subway commuters in South Korea, eliminating the need for a physical store.

Through posting product images along with the Quick Response (QR) codes across the subways of major cities, the company is encouraging people to use their sparse time shop more intelligently. The customers can click images of favorite products and place an order via mobile with product getting delivered by the end of day. This is seen as a major mobile application that can potentially change the seller-buyer relationship in one of the largest industries of the world, that too making smart use of customers’ time and sellers’ resources.

Where the rest of us see subway walls, Tesco’s South Korean supermarket chain Home Plus sees grocery shelves. In a trial run, Home Plus has plastered a subway station with facsimiles of groceries, labeled with a unique code for each product. As commuters pass by on their way to work, they can use a mobile-phone app to take pictures of the products they want, then check out. The groceries are automatically delivered to their doorstep by the end of the work day.

Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai

Jab jab dard ka baadal chaya

Jab ghum ka saya lehraya

Jab aansoo palkon tak aya

Jab yeh tanha dil ghabraya

Humne dil ko yeh samjhaya

Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai

Duniya mein yunhi hota hai

Yeh jo gehre sannaate hain

Waqt ne sabko hi baante hain

Thoda ghum hai sabka qissa

Thodi dhoop hai sabka hissa

Aankh teri bekaar hi namm hai

Har pal ek naya mausam hai

Kyun tu aise pal khota hai

Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai

– Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Distinctly remarkable service: Just Dial

As you call in to Just Dial, to figure out some solutions/vendors for your immediate need, some of below mentioned points are worth noticing:

Customer Service
Customer Service

1. Your call is almost instantly picked up.

NO caller-tunes, NO “Please wait tapes”, NO “Press 1, 2, 3”

2. The customer executive will greet you by your name.

Personalization, as if you have called a friend for last-minute help. In fact lot of other support guys (Read Telecom Co.s) get your info. (Name, No. ) flashing on their screen but they never call you by your name.

3. Lighting response time.

They wont ask you to repeat lot of information, just point-to-point communication, and your answers are send back on sms or email; so you wont waste-time in finding a notepad, typing info. mis-spelling info.

4. Small Suggestion, No insistence

There is a small suggestion for any other vendors, no forcing the customers out. Most of the times sales guys, keep insisting and leave you frustrated and irritated.

We should definitely learn a couple of lessons on Customer service from this fantastic company, Just Dial.

(P.S. I am NOT promoting JustDial or promoters or any of its interests, neither am I paid for writing this article. It’s just what I & some of my friends have observed and enjoyed :))

Making Breakthrough Innovation Happen:

How 11 Indians Pulled Off The Impossible.

I highly recommend this book. Most inspiring and amazing story of Great Indian Entrepreneurs, Leaders, Innovators by Porus Munshi. Its compilation of 11 inspiring stories about the business, which we always knew, but the never knew about the efforts and innovation which went behind each.

The range of examples is extensive, spanning start-ups such as Aravind Eye Hospital and Su-Kam: Public Making Breakthrough Innovation Happenservice such as Trichy Police and Surat City; and technology-led firms like Titan ad Shantha Biotech and scaling of Dainik Bhaskar. These examples have a number of common threads: the feature men, who I dreamt big, took on unreasonable challenges, energised others around them and blended the qualities of Inspirational leader and benevolent dictator.

It talks about how it is important not to let the challenge dilute and keep the focus on keeping the intensity of the mission ‘on’.

It talks about setting an Orbit shifting challenge, which means setting up a challenge that would definitely seem impossible to begin with, but if achieved would put you in a place which would be difficult to match.

This brings a thought in my mind that there are many such hidden stories, which we are yet to discover.

Dont miss this one, Simply Awesome!

Choco Rolls

This weekend my chocolate pangs got over me and I decided to treat myself with choco rolls.

I must say, it’s fairly simple and quickest recipe that I have ever tried.

Ingredients include:

  • A Pack of Marie biscuits
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Choco powder /Chocolate
  • Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
  • 1/2 milk
  • Vanilla essence (optional)

Take pack of marie biscuits and powder them in a mixer. Add 1 tbsp choco powder/ melted chocolate. Add 3 tbsp sugar. Mix well. Slowly add little milk and make a dough with softness like roti dough.

Choco Rolls

Take grated coconut, add 1 tbsp sugar, add 2 drops of vanilla essence.

Take biscuit dough and spread like big elongated roti,( you can use roller-pin), but thicker than traditional roti. Sprinkle add the coconut mixture on this. Slowly roll back the Base to form tight rolled tubes.

Put this in refrigerator for 10 mins. Take out and cut it horizontally.

Enjoy your yummy choco rolls dessert!!

When you want something from heart, whole world will unite to give you.

I believed in this statement but I always gave it a realistic twist. I have experienced it at times in my life, that when I was too determined for something, I got it. But I did not name it as achievement, because my the time I got it, I figured that there were many strings attached to it, which I didn’t want.

At Wishing Pond, Trevis Fountain, Rome

At Wishing Pond, Trevis Fountain, Rome

So after a few accomplishments and analysis post each, I figured that what I aimed for in first place wasnt full proof. I had not thought of all use cases and some other options which might be more attractive.

Hence by the time I achieved  those milestones, I wasnt to keen about it or moved to new challenges.

Now, I am extra careful before making any wishes. Because I still strongly believe

When you want something from heart, the world will unite to give you.

I guess my this analysis has made me little laidback..yes u read it right. Since I have become too cautious of “attached strings” along with “wishes”..the whole essence of passion to simply do it is fading.

Am I too confused ?? Mabbe…But that’s the current phase…!!

I am sure till will change with new experiences and time. Till then… Keep Wishing for the Best!!
